Professor Vittal Katikireddi School of Health & Wellbeing University of Glasgow Glasgow, Scotland orcid.org/0000-0001-6593-9092 Vittal Katikireddi is Professor of Public Health & Health Inequalities at the University of Glasgow and an honorary Consultant in Public Health Medicine at Public Health Scotland. He completed an undergraduate degree in Medicine, an intercalated degree in Genetics, and a Masters and a PhD in Public Health. His research focuses on developing evidence to inform healthy public policy. Vittal has conducted epidemiological analyses to understand the social determinants of health and health inequalities using cross-sectoral linked administrative data and longitudinal survey data. He has conducted policy evaluation using natural experiment methods, microsimulation modelling and qualitative policy analysis. He is also interested in advancing methods in these areas, as well as for systematic reviews of complex public health topics. Vittal has published over 300 research outputs, is a Clarivate Analytics Highly Cited Researcher and a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences and of the Royal Society of Edinburgh.

Dr Anna Pearce MRC/CSO Social and Public Health Sciences Unit University of Glasgow Glasgow, Scotland   orcid.org/0000-0003-0085-5263 Anna Pearce is a social epidemiologist at the University of Glasgow. She studied Geography & Population Studies (BSc), Demography & Health (MSc) and Child Public Health (PhD). She researches the social determinant of health and health inequalities, with an early years’ focus. She teaches and applies causal methods (e.g. mediation analysis), to further our understanding of health inequalities and identify options for their prevention. She utilises national cohorts, such as the Millennium Cohort Study, the Longitudinal Study of Australian Children, and Growing Up in Scotland, and has constructed new cohorts from administrative records. She is passionate about working with policy-makers and practitioners interested in evaluating upstream policies and involving citizens in her research. She has been the recipient of Wellcome Trust/UKRI/NIHR research fellowships and is closely involved in the UK Society for Social Medicine and Population Health, having held roles such as ECR chair, Honorary Treasurer, and conference chair.
